Leo Miller

Obituary of Leo S. Miller

~~Leo S. Miller, 67, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 15, 1950 in Waverly, NY, the son of the late Leo and Nellie (Garrison) Barton.

After high school, Leo enlisted in the US Marines Corps. He was sent to Okinawa and served during the Vietnam War. Returning from the service, he went to work for
Dura-Bilt in Gillett, PA. Leo loved his job and his work family and was honored by them in June for 45 years of service. He went every day to work until his health prevented him from continuing.

Leo and his wife, Lou Ann married in 1975, and settled soon after in Wilawana, to raise their family. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had many interests and hobbies, from following NASCAR in the early years, to hunting with his brothers and nephews. Leo enjoyed fixing cars with his brothers Marvin and Donnie, and he was the “brakeman”. He enjoyed going to horse shows to cheer on his family, and lately, his newest hobby was watching women’s softball with his nephew Brenton. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him. Leo was a member of the Sayre VFW Post #1536 and Athens American Legion Post #246.

Leo had a wicked sense of humor and a sudden smile everyone loved to see. He was a beloved husband, dad, poppy, and brother who left a hole that will never be filled. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

He was preceded in death by brothers Donald and Glenn.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lou Ann Minturn Miller, children Garrett Miller, Travis and Deana Miller, and Melissa and Samuel Lantz, grandchildren, Arwen, Mason, Madden and Jaxon, his honorary grandchildren, Savanna and Avianna. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Shirley Miller, sister Edna Head, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

Arrangements will be announced at a later time by his family. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
