Obituary of Donald L. Parmalee

Donald L. "Don" Parmalee, 67, of Waverly, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

He was born on July 18, 1950 in Johnson City, NY, the son of late Frederick and Beulah (Ruland) Parmalee.

Don graduated from Harpersville High School. After graduation, he served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, doing two tours of duty. He was employed as a Supervisor for 23 years with Bart Rich Enterprises "Burger King", prior to retiring. Don loved spending time with family and friends, and liked to go hunting and fishing. He was an Elvis fanatic, and enjoyed watching Fox News and classic shows on ME TV. Donald was a devout Roman Catholic.

Donald is survived by his wife of 13 years, Deborah Parmalee at home, children, Donald L. and Lynn Parmalee of Ulster, PA, Amy L. Austin and Daniel Derrig of Edwardsville, PA, Joshua O. and Jessica Ward of Leicester, NC, Leanna M. and Joshua Hartjen of Owego, NY, Kevin M. Ward and Nicki Boockoff of Waverly, NY, and Makayla D. Pitcher of Candor, NY, grandchildren, Richard, Donald III, Tiffany, Dustin, Tonya, Alexsandra, Mihkayla, Sammantha, Lakota, Mykenzi, Owen, Molly, Travis, and Bear, and many beautiful great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Lewis and Mari Parmelee of Wellsburg, NY, James and Cheryl Parmalee of Norwich, NY, Pearl and Don Campbell of Batavia, NY, Carol and Will McQuerry of GA, Marshall and Alice Barney of Deland, FL, and Dawn Gilmore of LasVegas, NV, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special "Mom" Lois Capolupo.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 1pm with the Rev. Anthony Amato from St. James Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Elm Street, Waverly, NY, on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11am.
