Obituary of Michael A. Platt

Michael A. “Mike” Platt, 53, of East Smithfield, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, following a brief illness.
He was born on January 23, 1964 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Forrest) Platt.
Mike was a graduate of Sayre High School.  He loved spending time with family and friends.    He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mike was a compassionate man who cared about everyone, and will be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh.
He is predeceased by his wife, Ellen Platt, and brother, Daniel Platt.
Michael is survived by his children, Amanda Gallagher and Wayne Tunnicliff of Sayre, PA, Michael J. Platt of Milan, PA, and Megan Platt of Milan, PA, grandchildren, Emily Frisbie, Konnor Gallagher, and Wayne Tunnicliff, sister-in-law Kim Platt (Bob Young) of Milan, PA, niece Stephanie (Brandon) Miller and their children Aiden and Mia, of East Smithfield, PA, nephew Dustin Platt of Milan, PA, and several cousins.   
At Michael’s request, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
