Obituary of Christopher Lee Harding
Christopher Lee “Chris” Harding, 52, of Wolcott, NY, formerly of the Sayre, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17, 2017 following a brief illness at Rochester General Hospital.
He was born on July 6, 1965 in Sayre, PA, the son of Donald and Betty (Hill) Harding.
Chris was a 1983 graduate of Sayre High School. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy. A Veteran of the Navy, Chris served from 1983-1988 as a Helicopter Mechanic. He was employed with Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (Motts) in Williamson, NY. Chris was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. Chris loved spending time outdoors, and much of that time was spent at his campsite on Alexandria Bay. When camping, he could always be found sitting beside a bonfire.
He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Harding Torpy in 2004, paternal grandfather, Donald Harding, paternal grandmother, Mamie (Earl) Harding Robinson, maternal grandparents, Harold and Ann Hill, maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Leona Frey, and close cousin, Rick Gay.
Christopher is survived by his children, Justin (Dixie Waite) Harding of Wolcott, NY, Anne Marie (Erin) Dowd of Sodus, NY, wife, Michelle Harding of Shortsville, NY, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, father and step-mother, Donald and Ina Harding of Athens, PA, step-father, Steve Torpy of Cando, ND, sisters, Leona “Jean” Malanoski of Athens, PA, Sandra (William) Conrad of Athens, PA, and Brenda (Mike) Walenpa of Painted Post, NY, brother, Todd Torpy of Sious Falls, SD, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may call on October 1, 2017 from 2pm - 4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the funeral home at 4pm.
Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
