Obituary of Robert Walker

Robert S. “Bob” Walker, 75, of Waverly, NY, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Elderwood at Waverly in Waverly, NY, following an extended illness.

He was born on May 23, 1942 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Donald H. and Eleanor (Bennett) Walker.

Bob was a veteran of the US Navy, having served aboard the USS Independence. He loved spending time with his family, taking every opportunity to spoil his grandchildren. Being an avid hunter, he enjoyed using old fashioned black powder muzzleloaders, specifically flintlock.  Bob also took pleasure in going to Rendezvous, where people met to take part in shooting competitions and primitive camping.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary, at home, daughter Anne M. (David) Teeter of Richmond, TX, son Michael P. (Erin) Walker of Ballston Spa, NY, nine grandchildren, brother Donald James Walker of South Waverly, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11am at St. James Catholic Church, 503 Clark Street, Waverly, NY.

Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Elm Street, Waverly, NY.
