Marguerite Richards Myers, 99, of Athens, PA passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at home, with her family by her side. She was born on June 27, 1918 in Laquinn, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Harriet Richards. Marguerite loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed camping and fishing. Her love of country music inspired her to follow country bands all over New York and Pennsylvania. Marguerite was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post #1954, Sayre VFW Skiff-Bower Post #1536, and VFW Post #6083. She adored her beloved dog, Angel, who was her constant and faithful companion. She was predeceased by her husband, Alva Myers, Sr. in 1979, daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Charles Marshall, Sr., granddaughter, Stacey Myers, grandson, Brent Myers, and sister, Masie West. Marguerite is survived by son, Alva L. Myers, Jr. and Paula Durgin of Mosherville, PA, grandchildren, Cheryl and Robert Barnstead of Newport News, VA, Kirk and Pamela Marshall of Elmira, NY, Scott Marshall and Kate Wood of Elmira, NY, and Christopher Myers of Elmira, NY, great-grandchildren, Olivia, Liam, Sean, Kyle, Kirk, Derek, Patrick, Trevor, and Abigail, and nine great-great-grandchildren. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family is being assisted by the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Amy, Amy, Carol, and Kris, for the excellent care given to their loved one. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park.
