Obituary of Gordon W. Robinson

Gordon W. "Gordie" Robinson, 88, of Sayre, PA entered his heavenly home on November 25, 2017.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years Bernice (Templeton) Robinson, as well as a brother Don Robinson of NC, 2 sons, and 2 step-children, Mark W. and Kathy Robinson of FL, Richard and Debbie Robinson of VA, Barry and Elaine Kinney of NC, and Char and Bob Taft of Syracuse, NY. Also surviving are his 8 grandchildren, Stephen, Kelly, Matthew, Patrick, Timothy, Rachel, Robyn, and Karen and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Fred W. and Marion Robinson, brother, Roger Robinson and sister, Noreen Connor.

He was born on September 5, 1929 in Endicott, NY, the son of Fred W. and Marion (Ellis) Robinson.

Gordon was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and Cortland State College. He was also in R.O.T.C. at West Virginia University. He was employed with Singer-Link Corporation as an Inspector, until his retirement in May of 1989. Gordie and Bunny moved to Sayre, after spending 17 years in Dade City, FL where they were active members of the Temple Baptist Church. After moving to Sayre, they were very active members of His Majesty Fellowship, Athens, and until failing health the Greater Valley Assembly of God Church in Athens.

Gordie loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed traveling and going on many camping trips. He was an avid golfer and loved Syracuse football.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.

 

The funeral home is asking that all enter by way of Maple Street to the back of the funeral home as Main Street in the front will be closed that day.

The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Skilled Nursing in Towanda for all the care and kindness during the years Gordie was a resident, especially pizza day and the rivalry fun football games between Penn State and Syracuse.
