Obituary of Emily M. Arnold Burdick
Emily Maude (Rose) Arnold Burdick, 89, of Mansfield, PA passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 3, 2017 at Broad Acres.
She was born on September 29, 1928 in Caton, NY, the daughter of the late Rev. John Calvin and Sarah Emily (Wilcox) Rose.
Emily graduated from Northside High School in Corning, NY, Class of 1947. She was employed with Westinghouse prior to marrying the late Raymond E. Arnold of Sheshequin, PA in Corning, NY on Nov. 6, 1954 and was married for 26 years prior to his passing. She married R. Robert Burdick on January 8, 1994 in Sayre, PA. Emily was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and playing Bingo. Emily volunteered at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre and Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro. She was a member of the Tioga Baptist Church in Tioga, PA and a life member of the DAV. Emily enjoyed spending time with the residents and staff at Broad Acres, participating in activities and visiting.
She is predeceased by her parents, husbands, a step-great-grandson, Ryan Alan Smith and a brother Calvin G. Rose.
Emily is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Arnold of Sayre, PA, Raymond and Tammy Arnold of Athens, PA, Gary and Nancy Arnold of Sandston, VA, son Roger Arnold of Athens, PA, stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Burdick of Clayton, NC, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Roxy and Ralph Leblanc of Covington, PA, step-daughters, Gail Button of Painted Post, NY, and Barbara Foskey of Mt. Jewell, TN, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by her family at Broad Acres and Guthrie Hospice, her loving caregiver and friend, Rochelle. Emily’s children and family extends to each a thank you for the exceptional care to their loved one.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 11am-1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 1pm with the Rev. Josh O’Neil officiating.
Burial will be in Sheshequin Valley Cemetery, Sheshequin, PA.
