Obituary of William E. Anderson

William E. “Bill” Anderson, 74, of Sayre, PA, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, December 16, 2017 following an extended illness.

 

He was born April 15, 1943 in Danville, PA, the son of the late William O. and Mary (Slear) Anderson.

 

Bill was employed for IBM as an Electronic Technician in the Engineering Department for 30 years, prior to retiring in 1995. He also owned and operated Bill’s Electric for many years. He had a unique ability to be able to repair anything placed in front of him and was known by many as the “Tinker-Master”. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed their many camping trips. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and train history.

 

For many years, he was involved in the Scouting program. Bill was a member and served in the past as Master, High Priest, Secretary, Thrice Illustrious Master and Recorder of the Masonic Lodge, Rural Amity Lodge No. 70 F.&A.M., Athens, PA, past Commander of the Northern Commandery No. 16, Towanda, PA, and past Puisant Sovereign of the Orient Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, Orangeville, PA. He also was a member of the Council of Anointed Kings, Mechanicsburg, PA, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Sullivan Forest No. 210, Athens, PA, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Towanda, Towanda, PA, and the Consistory, Valley of Williamsport, Williamsport, PA.

 

He is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary K. and Walter Cook, son-in-law, Ronald Stiehl, Sr., and sister-in-law, Ann Anderson.

 

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly at home, children, Dawn Stiehl and Glenn Ewing of VanEtten, NY, Shannon Anderson and Mark Weldon of MA, Gretta and Tony Huck of Waverly, NY, Heather and Alan Basinger of Sayre, PA and Shawn Anderson of Sayre, PA, grandchildren, Logan and Melissa Anderson, Renata and Matt Faulissi, Matthew Stiehl, Christopher Stiehl, Elizabeth and Ryan Gantt, Nicholynn and Christopher Lopes, Ashley and Claymore Lebeau, Mackenzie and John McCool, PFC Jordon Huck, Fallon Huck, Leon “Mikey” Lopreste, Gillian Anderson, and Lexis Basinger, and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John O. Anderson of VA, sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Frank Alvarado of Lansdown, PA, aunt and uncle, Jean and Jack Kerstetter of GA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 10am-11am at the Sayre Christian Church, 427 North Keystone Avenue, Sayre, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will be follow at 11am at the church with the Rev. James Donahoo and Pastor Paula Kraus co-officiating.
