Obituary of John W. Butters
John W. Butters, Sr., 75, of Bentley Creek, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY.
He was born on October 4, 1942 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Wesley and Genevieve (McNamara) Butters.
John was employed with Camron Manufacturing as a Welder and various businesses, prior to retiring. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and flying in the planes and gliders at Harris Hill. John was well known in the area and enjoyed visiting with and helping people.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years; Regina at home, son; John Butters, Jr. of Bentley Creek, PA, sons and daughters-in-law; Jamie and Rita Butters of Bentley Creek, PA, Jeffrey and Sheila Butters of Pageland, SC, and Jacob and Amy Butters of Pageland, SC, daughter and son-in-law; Patricia and Randy McKinney of Roxboro, NC, grandchildren; Caleb and Sabrina Butters, Cedric Waddell, Zaria Waddell, and Zoe McKinney, and his great-granddaughter: Carter Butters. He is also survived by his sister; Margaret Soper of Waverly, NY, brother and sister-in-law; Everett and Millie Butters of Bentley Creek, PA, brother; Thomas Butters of East Smithfield, PA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Time of Visitation in Remembrance of John will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 5pm-7pm in the at the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church Hall, 13255 Berwick Turnpike, Gillett, PA in the sanctuary. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
