Obituary of Mark J. Roberts

Mark J. Roberts, Sr., 62, of Sayre, PA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home.

He was born on December 18, 1955 in Sayre, PA, the son of Edward, Sr., and Victoria (Shay) Roberts.

Mark was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps. Mark loved spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and purchasing and restoring old muscle cars. Mark still enjoyed spending time fishing. He was a member of the Sayre American Legion Post #283 and the Sons of Italy.

He is predeceased by his father; Edward Roberts, Sr., brother; Michael Roberts, and sister-in-law; Kristie Roberts.

Mark is survived by his children; Maria Roberts of Towanda, Pa, Mark Roberts, Jr. and Kasey VanHousen of Waverly, NY, and Mindee Roberts and Harry Smith of Athens, PA, step-daughter; Lezlee Stranger of Sayre, PA and her family, grandchildren; Cheyeanna, Jamie Mae, Thorn, Zyrus, Dillon, Raice, Ava, Mark III, Ava, Ryder, Reagan, Alexis, Chole, Michael, Neaveh, Axel, Kassandra, and Victoria, great-granddaughter; Sophia and his great-grandchild he was looking forward to meeting. He is also survived by his siblings; Edward Roberts, Jr., Diane Groves-Tarr, Lynn Malden, Brian Roberts, Eric and Patty Roberts, and Wayne and Connie Roberts, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis St, Elmira, NY at 1:30pm. Military Honors will be accorded. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

Burial will follow in the Woodlawn National Cemetery Columbarium, Elmira, NY.
