Obituary of Emily M. Kelley
Emily V. (Mix) Kelley, 83, of Sayre, PA passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on September 30, 1934 in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of the late William L. and Sarah (Seamon) Mix.
Emily was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and friend to many. She was a bright light in our world. Emily married the love of her life on June 24, 1955 in Williamsport, PA. Their marriage was the best part of both and they celebrated 62 years of marriage, prior to her passing. She was employed with Guthrie Clinic for many years as an Administrative Assistant, prior to retiring in 1993. Emily took special pride in her family. Her favorite times of the year were holidays when she surrounded herself with family. She was an avid quilter. For over 20 years, Emily and Paul attended Penn State Football Games, which she always enjoyed because it meant she got to visit the quilt shops in the area. Emily was well known for always having a kind word and smile for anyone she met. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is predeceased by her infant sister; Sarah Mix, and two brothers; William L. Mix and Thomas R. Mix.
Emily is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years; Paul E. Kelley at home, sons and daughters-in-law; Paul T. and Brenda Kelley of Athens, PA, Patrick M. and Patricia Kelley of Summerville, SC, and Philip J. and Kelly Kelley of Saylorsburg, PA, grandchildren; Ace Dolin, Terrina Grove, Patrick Kelley, Philip Kelley, Hanna Maynard, Rachel Maynard, Aimie Shrock, Ian Kelley, Meghan Kelley, Derek Klingel, Jake Kelley, and Landon Kelley, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law; Lucia and John Gast of Lancaster, PA, and brother and sister-in-law; Joseph G.R. and Pirjo Mix of Boonsboro, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 3pm – 4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 4pm with the Rev. James Donahoo officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
