Jane Harford

Obituary of Jane M. Harford

Jane M. (Jackson) Harford, 81, of Waverly, NY was called home peacefully by her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018.

She was born on May 18, 1936, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Luzerne County, the daughter of the late Eugene Jackson and Geraldine Harbst Jackson.

Jane’s main focus in life was always her beloved children and family. She raised nine children remaining strong as a mother and for her family upon the loss of one of her sons. There never was a time that she didn’t give her all in raising her children and was their biggest supporter in whatever they wanted to accomplish. She gave of herself to her family and community, always willing to help anyone in need or if someone just needed an ear. Jane sustained many lifelong friendships and was well respected by all. A Christian her whole life, she recently recommitted to serving her Lord and church family. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Athens, and was involved with the Victorians, the Fellowship Committee, Prayer Warriors, and the Quilting Circle.

She was involved with the area Senior Citizens, the Red Hatters, and various community organizations. She initiated a food garden, when living in Titus Towers in Ithaca, NY and also helped organize the Ithaca Children’s garden. Most recently, living in a senior community, she started a coffee and conversation group at Elizabeth Square in Waverly. She was an avid reader, puzzler, and seamstress, and she was the Scrabble Queen. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is predeceased by her son; Kenneth Dean Reap and her brother; Gaylord “Butch” Jackson, grandson; Zachariah Zane Okun, and mother; Geraldine Harbst Coolbaugh.

Jane is survived by her beloved children; Vonne Brewster of Erin, NY, Victoria Reap of Ithaca, NY, Bryon Reap of Houston, TX, Shawn and Ginger Reap of Waverly, NY, James Reap of Ithaca, NY, Jack and Nancy Reap of Houston, TX, William Reap of Groton, NY, and Merri and Tim Nickerson of Central Point, OR, fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses; Clyde and Barbara Jackson of Springdale, AR, Dawn and Bruce Maue of Sayre, PA, and Michael and Georgianna Jackson of Sayre, PA, sister-in-law; Ardus Jackson of Siloam, AR, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
