Obituary of Linda Lou Stillman

Linda Lou (Roote) Stillman, 70, of Sayre, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at home with her family by her side.

She was born on July 24, 1947 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Donald Roote and Helen (Freer) Roote.

Linda graduated from Southside High School in Elmira. Following graduation, she attended the Ithaca School of Practical Nursing. Over the years, she was employed as an LPN with Family Services of Chemung County, Robert Packer Hospital, and Northern Tier Counseling for 12 years, retiring in 2009. Over the years, she continued her education in the medical field and also worked in the Medical Records Department of both Chemung County and Northern Tier Counseling.

Linda loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She spent a lot of time reading and doing puzzles with her mom. Linda enjoyed camping and was a member of the French Choppers Campers, which has been in existence for over 75 years. She always loved spending time with them and when she could no longer go camping, the club would come and visit with her at her home.

She is predeceased by her husband; Richard Stillman in 2015 and an infant daughter; Nancy Stillman.

Linda is survived by her daughter and her companion; Nancy Rohde and Timothy Bennett of Towanda, PA, son Neal Stillman of Sayre, PA, currently serving with the US Marine Corps in Japan, grandchildren; Nicholas Stillman, Justin Rohde, Shelby Stillman, and Bridget Stillman and mother; Helen Roote of Wellsburg, NY. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses; Cecil and Donna Roote of Elmira, NY, Cathleen and Joseph Carlyle of Waverly, NY, and Alice Roote and Wayne Brubaker of Horseheads, NY, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her numerous friends. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 6pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA.

Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA at the convenience of the family.
