Obituary of Andrew R. Fokas

Andrew R. "Andy" Fokas, Jr., 63, of Sayre, PA passed away with his family by his side on Friday, May 4, 2018 following his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on October 26, 1954 in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Andrew R., Sr. and Caroline (Tedesco) Fokas.

Andy worked for Iroquois Foundry in Waverly for many years. After leaving there, he was a self-employed mechanic. He was very talented and able to fix any problem with cars and any other fix-it projects that were out there. He never met a person he didn't like, and he was well liked by all the knew. Andy was the type of man who would give you his last dollar, or the shirt off his back if you were in need. He never wanted to see anyone go without. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and sitting around bon-fires with his family and friends. Andy was always ready and willing to enjoy a good party.

He is predeceased by his maternal uncle, Ralph Tedesco and paternal uncle, John DeFossi.

Andrew is survived by his son, Andrew R. III, "Andy" Fokas of New York, grandson, Andrew R. IV "Little Andy" Fokas, sister, who took care of him during his illness, Carol Fenton of Sayre, PA, sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Robert "Bob" Barry of Waverly, NY, nephews, William Fenton and fiancé, Heather Farr of Athens, PA, nephew, Joseph Fenton and girlfriend, Rachel Mangano of Sayre, PA, great-nephews, Benjamin Fenton, Kalob Fenton, Dominic Fenton, Alex Fenton, and Noah Fenton, great-nieces, Glenna Benson and Jade Fenton, special friend, Donna, who visited him and brought him goodies during his illness, and he will be missed by all those who knew him.

Friends and family may call on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 12pm-2pm at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
