Obituary of John Neil Ripley
John Neil Ripley, 65, of Sayre, PA passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born on October 22, 1952 in Waverly, NY, the son of the late Willard E. and Grace E. (Lee) Ripley.
John was a 1971 graduate of Waverly High School. Following graduation, he entered the US Air Force. Upon returning, John attended Corning Community College majoring in Forensics. He enjoyed watching all sports and listening to music, especially Bob Dylan. He had a great love for all animals.
He is predeceased by his step-father, George Pike, Jr.
John is survived by his son, Brian Ripley of Buffalo, NY, sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Duane Klinko of Waverly, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Ripley and Eloise F. Congdon of Sayre, PA, and Stephen and Jacquelyn Ripley of Rockledge, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Following John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The family will hold a private burial at their convenience. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to help the animals he loved to the: Stray Haven, 194 Shepard Road, Waverly, NY 14892. The family extends their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Eller and the staff of the Sayre VA Clinic for the excellent care given to John throughout his illness.
