Although, Lela never had children of her own, each of her nephews and nieces, were her kids. She and her husband, Frank always attended their sporting events and took an interest in whatever was happening in their lives. After all their family was out of school, they could still be seen in the stands at the Waverly girls’ basketball games. Lela took pride in her home, and there never was a time when it wasn’t immaculate. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and being sure that the outside of her home was as presentable as the inside. Lela enjoyed cooking and bowling. Lela, with her friends, also took a cruise to Hawaii. The couple spent much of their time with Fred and Joyce Park, enjoying traveling and just spending time together.
