Obituary of Charles D. Bacon

Charles D. “Don” Bacon, 76, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 following a period of declining health.

He was born on January 5, 1942, in Candor, NY, the son of the late Lloyd Signs and Helen Bacon.

Don was a family man who loved spending time with them whenever he had the chance. One of his favorite enjoyments was spending time at the family pond and being outdoors at the cabin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don loved that he was able to teach his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to fish. He was happiest when he had a pole in his hand, surrounded by his family, relaxing with them. Don also enjoyed going to any flea market or auction, and when he saw something he was interested in, he was the “King of Dickering” to get a lower price.

Don was a well-respected self-employed business man in the Valley. He owned Don’s General Contracting for over 30 years, prior to retiring. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is predeceased by his sister, Jean Pixley.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Audrey at home, children, Tanya Ruvolo and Kevin Fletcher of Sayre, PA, Shannon and Damon Cornish of Milan, PA, and Charles “DJ” Bacon and Kathy Park of Sayre, PA, grandchildren, Travis Ruvolo of Sayre, PA, Amanda Ruvolo and Wade Teeple of Athens, PA, Brittany Ruvolo of Sayre, PA, Kaitlynn Cornish of Milan, PA, Tyler Cornish of Milan, PA, Emily Cornish of Milan, PA,  Madison Bacon of Sayre, PA, Gabriel Bacon of Oscala, FL, Skylyn Bacon of Barton, NY, Dominick Bacon of Barton, NY, and Brayden Brown of Slaterville, NY, and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Makenna, Aaleah, and Adalynn. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Joseph Albright of Owego, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Maureen Bacon of Omaha, NB, and Larry and Beulah Bacon of Raleigh, NC, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
