Herbert W. Brown II, 69, of Ulster, PA passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a period of declining health. He was born on March 9, 1949 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Ira Albert and LuCelia E. (Ford) Brown. Herbert was a truck driver for many years until his health prevented him from continuing that job. He loved farm work and was always willing to help-out on many locally owned farms. He loved animals of any kind. Herbert was an avid hunter, fisherman, and reader. He especially enjoyed books by Stephen King, and in the past few years read many different religious books of all kinds. He is predeceased by his daughter, Norma Jean brown, an infant brother, and sister, JoAnn Lewis. Herbert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Herbert Brown III and Rebecca Socha-Brown of Towanda, PA, daughter, Lynn and Steve Castle of Canton, PA, grandchildren, Gabriel "Gabe" Sakers of Canton, PA, Macy Castle of Tunkhannock, PA, and Quinnley Socha-Brown of Towanda, PA. He is also survived by his brother, Ira Brown, Jr. of Milan, PA, brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Sharon Brown of Gillett, PA, sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Guy Schmeckenbecker of Englewood, FL and Phyllis and Douglas Shipman of Fayetteville, PA, sister, Iris May of Lancaster, TX, many aunts and uncles, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Gary Smith.
