Obituary of Robert M. Johnson
Robert M. "Rob" Johnson, 60, of Athens, PA passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 in New Mexico while visiting family with his loved ones by his side after battling an extended illness.
He was born on August 2, 1957 in Sayre, PA, the son of Robert and Olive (Sjostrom) Johnson.
Rob was a graduate of the Athens High School Bulldogs, Class of 1976. He was well known at Guthrie and Robert Packer Hospital where he was employed for almost 39 years. Rob was an active member of the community. For over 25 years, he volunteered at the Athens Little League field in many capacities. He was a Coach, Umpire, Board Member and Business Manager. Rob married his wife of 36 years on December 13, 1981. He was a family-oriented man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were the light of his eye. He was respected and loved by all who knew him and will be missed.
He is predeceased by his father; Robert Johnson, mother and step-father; Olive and Leonard VanAllen; father-in-law; Carl Schrader, sisters-in-law; Sandy Newman and Phyllis Newman, brother-in-law; Kevin Jones, and nephew; Jason Johnson.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years; Lisa Johnson, sons and daughters-in-law; Arron and Kourtney Johnson, Brandon and Anna Johnson, and Chad and Brittany Johnson, daughter and son-in-law; Brooke and Adam Middlecamp, grandchildren; Xander, Devin, Kaylee, Oliver, Brianna, Peyton, Carter, Elih, Ivy, Cameron, Levi and Brynnley. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Bruce and Betty Newman, Brian and Joyce Newman, and Rick and Peg Johnson, brother; Bernie Newman, sister and brother-in-law; Ruth and Norman Kline, mother-in-law; Janet Schrader, sister-in-law; Barbara Dowd, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Edward and Nancy Schrader, special friends; Sheila Slawta, Lori Robinson, and Rob Robinson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 4pm – 7pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7pm at the funeral home.
