Obituary of Joseph A. Arcesi

Joseph "Joe" A. Arcesi, 83, of Athens, PA surrounded by his beloved family passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home.

He was born on July 24, 1935 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Stropes) Arcesi.

Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who adored him. He was married to the love of his life for 36 years, Jessie Platt, who also was his childhood sweetheart. The man who always could be seen with a smile on his face, was also a man who would tease anyone relentlessly. Known to almost everyone he knew as Papa Joe, he was loved and will be missed.

He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Motorcycle Mechanic with Bob's Cycle Shop, Sayre for 32 years. Even on

his times off, he could be seen working on motorcycles at his home for anyone who needed one repaired, and many would describe him as a Motorcycle Enthusiast Extraordinaire. His passion certainly was motorcycles, from repairing to racing to just spending time riding off-road on Sunday afternoons with family and friends. After riding, they would return to the house to a meal cooked up by Jessi and to tip a few cold ones. He was one of the founders of the Burroenduros in the Valley area. He continued to ride well into his 70's until his health prevented him from continuing.

He is predeceased by his sister Connie Arcesi Albright and brothers, Robert and James "Jimmy" Arcesi.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Jessie at home, children, Sherri and Tom Howe of Waverly, NY, Bonnie Spencer of Chemung, NY, Bruce Spencer of Sayre, PA, Kathy Love of Corning, NY, Ellen Reynolds of Sayre, PA, and Joe Temple of Lockwood, NY, grandchildren, Bill and April Brotzman of Lockwood, NY, Jessica Humphrey of Los Angeles, CA, Kelly Wayman of Chemung, NY, Ashley Gregorowica of Kingston, PA, Brandon Reynolds of Sayre, PA, Tanner Reynolds of Sayre, PA, and Hayden Howe of Waverly, NY, great-grandchildren, Kai and Mia Brotzman. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Nancy Arcesi of Waverly, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 5pm at the Athens American Legion Post #246, 103 Public Street, Athens, PA.
