Obituary of Wesley Dale Wakely
Wesley "Dale" Wakely, 76, of Athens Twp., PA went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2018 with his beloved family by his side following a period of declining health.
He was born on July 7, 1942 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Wesley R. and Mary (Ayers) Wakely.
Dale was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving on board the USS Intrepid. He worked for the Lehigh Valley, Conrail, and Norfolk Southern Railroads for 25 years, starting as a Signalman and retiring as a Supervisor. He loved spending time with his family. Dale enjoyed spending time outdoors, swimming in the pool or enjoying the flower gardens at his home. He had a love for motorcycles and rode daily, until his health prevented him from owning one.
He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Juniper Wakely, sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Bob Robbins, and brother-in-law, Lynn Chamberlain.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon at home, son, Aaron Wakely of Athens, PA, sons and daughters-in-law, Drew and Jennifer Wakely of Sayre, PA, and Courtney and Mandy Wakely of Athens Twp., PA, grandchildren, Alex Simons of Athens, PA, Destiny and Brock Fanning of Rogers, AR, Jack Schultz of Las Vegas, NV, Olivia Wakely of Sayre, PA, Mackenzi, Magnus, and Abbott Wakely of Athens Twp., PA, and great-granddaughter, Bella Decker. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Chamberlain of Horseheads, NY, sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and Ron Dunbar of Horseheads, NY, and Alice and Gary Carlton of FL, special nieces, Stacy, Maureen, Paige, and Jennifer, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, his lifelong friend, Jon Raker of San Antonio, TX, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beverly and John Arbie.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 2pm-3:30pm at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the funeral home at 3:30pm with the Rev. Joshua Householder officiating.
