Obituary of Deborah A. Nichols
Deborah A. "Debbie" Nichols, 60, of Sayre, PA passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on March 16, 1958 in Garden City, Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Wagner) Rogers.
Debbie graduated from Athens Area High School, Class of 1976. She was the driving force with keeping the class in touch by organizing trips and reunions. She worked for Robert Packer Hospital as a Recruiter in the HR Department for 20 years. She then was employed with Chemung ARC until her health prevented her from continuing to work.
She was a compassionate, empathetic woman who was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family deeply, especially her four grandsons whom she adored. Debbie loved all animals and could be seen tending to her brood at home, Mama Kitty, Daddy's Kitty and her faithful companion dogs, Corky, Riley, Rosie, and Mandy. She was also known for her passion about even numbers and could quote any history with anyone about dates and times. She enjoyed baking, crafts, and could always be seen heading off to rummage sales, estate sales, or auctions.
She is predeceased by her grandmother, Irene Rogers, aunt, Carol Wagner, and mother-in-law, Margaret Nichols.
Deborah is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Dennis at home, daughter, Stephanie Saxon of Sayre, PA, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Anne Nichols of VA, grandsons, Zacharey Saxon, Tyler Saxon, Ben Nichols, and Liam Nichols. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Mary Rogers and Tom and Tammy Rogers, brothers, John Rogers and Matt Rogers, special sister-in-law, Merry Hungate, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 3pm -5pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 5pm.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA at the convenience of the family.
