Obituary of Roberta G. DeSisti

Roberta Grace “Bobby” (Shaffer) DeSisti, 84, of Milltown, PA passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre following a period of declining health.

She was born on July 18, 1934 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Thomas and Euleta (McCloe) Shaffer.

Bobby attended Sayre School District. She was a self-employed Beautician at her home in Milltown for many years. Her family was her priority, and each of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays. Every day Bobby would convince someone to participate in her daily card games. Skip-Bo and Rummy were her favorite card games, but she was known to challenge anyone to whatever game they wanted to play. Bobby loved discussing politics with anyone at anytime and was a Judge of Elections in Milltown for years, even when her daughters were young. She always taught them the importance of being involved in your community. Bobby loved what she called, “Coffee Talk”, and just spending time with her family and friends. Bobby, known to many as the “Queen of Milltown” will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bobby was a member of the Church of Epiphany, Sayre. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at J.E. Wheelock Fire Company, VFW Post#1534, and a member of the MOOSE. She served as a member of the Bingo Committee at the Sons of Italy.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph “Joe” DeSisti, granddaughter, Tara Peters, sister, Cindy Shaffer, and brothers, Douglas and Thomas “To-Key” Shaffer.
