Obituary of Robert "Bob" E. Franks

Robert "Bob" E. Franks, 80, of Waverly, NY passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at his home with his beloved family beside him.

He was born on March 2, 1938 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Paul and Florence (VanHorn) Franks.

Bob was a graduate of Sayre High School. While in school, he participated in the track program. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving as a Machinist Mate. Bob worked for Ingersoll Rand in Athens as a Machinist for 35 years, prior to retiring. He was a lifetime member of the ELKS in Sayre.

Bob loved spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren, and sons-in-law the art of hunting and fishing properly. Bob also enjoyed camping.

He is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul, Jr. and Louise Franks, his first wife, Sarah Franks, and brother-in-law, Norman Millage.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marguerite at home, children, Anne Franks of Auburn, NY, Robert Franks of Candor, NY, Craig Franks of Smithboro, NY, Susan and Brian Cochrane of New Melford, CT, Jean and Travis Bishop of Barton, NY, Carl and Beverly Porter of Knoxville, TN, Corrine and David Barrett of Schoharie, NY, Laurie and Carl Hartford of Canton, PA, and Jason Porter of Candor, NY, 25 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Barb Franks of Amenia, NY, sisters, Joyce Millage of Waverly, NY and Jean Chacona of Sayre, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on December 29, 2018 from 1pm-4pm at the ELKS, 117 South Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA.

Burial will be in Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, NY at the convenience of the family.
