Obituary of Beverly R. Dann

Beverly Ruth Hofrichter Dann, age 69, of Athens Township, PA passed away at home on Friday, December 7, 2018.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 19, 1949 to parents Norman and Ethel Issacson Hofrichter. She graduated from Lafayette High School and Brooklyn College, majoring in History.

On November 22, 1969, she married Jeffrey Dann in Brooklyn, NY. Within a year, they moved to Sayre, PA, near where he worked at the Sylvania plant in Towanda.

Beverly was a member of the Congregation Beth Israel in Waverly, NY, Congregation Kol Ami (CKA) in Elmira, NY, the Penn-York Jewish Community, and the American Association of University Women. She loved to read and was a member of several book clubs in Towanda, PA, Sayre, PA, and Elmira, NY.

She was the Library Director at the Waverly Free Library for about 25 years. Since retirement, she assisted her husband with his bridge teaching both at home, at resort hotels in the Poconos, PA and the Catskills, NY, and on cruise ships, including an 88-day round the world cruise on the Pacific Princess (the Love Boat) earlier this year.

She loved playing trivia at various sites in the Valley, and her team won the CKA Sisterhood's 13th Annual Trivia Night last week.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents Norman and Ethel Hofrichter; her step-mother Marilyn Geller Hofrichter; her brother Lawrence Hofrichter; Aunt Florence Hofrichter; Uncles Sidney Hofrichter and Donald (Elayne) Hofrichter; and cousins Bernice Abroms, Barbara Shollar, and Scott Hofrichter.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; sons, Adam Dann of Greensburg, PA and Cory (Lizz) Dann of Brooklyn, NY; grandsons, Noah and Cooper Dann of Greensburg, PA; granddaughters, Dakota Buhrman of Roanoke, VA and Abigail Dann of Brooklyn, NY; sister Frances Hofrichter of Manhattan, NY; sister-in-law, Frima Hofrichter of Manhattan, NY; brother-in-law, Paul (Sandra) Dann of Brooklyn, NY; daughter-in-law, Joelle (Sean) Paul-Cook of Greensburg, PA; nieces, Robin Dann of Brooklyn, NY, Connie (John) Dann of Brooklyn, NY, and Wendy (Mark) Walshin of Patchogue, Long Island, NY; nephews, Michael (Hannah) Hofrichter of Houston, TX, and Lee (Rebecca) Hofrichter of Manhattan, NY; grandnieces, Sophia Dann of Brooklyn, NY and Razele Hofrichter of Houston, TX; grandnephew, Einatan Hofrichter of Houston, TX; many cousins; and her best friend, Jean Chacona.

A graveside service will take place in Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd., Elmont, NY in Nassau County on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:30pm.
