Obituary of Darlene B. Conrad

Darlene B. Conrad, 83, of Waverly, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 surrounded by her family at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.

She was born on May 18, 1935 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Ammerman) Patton.

Darlene adored her family and they were always her priority. She loved spending time with them, especially around the holidays. One of her enjoyments was watching them all open their gifts and sharing the holiday meal together. She was a graduate of Athens High School. Darlene was employed as a Nurses' Aide for many years at different nursing homes in the area and was a Homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, playing solitaire, and crossword puzzles.

Darlene was a dedicated Christian who read her Bible faithfully and she always remained a prayer warrior. Even in her final days, as people came to visit her, she would call them over to her, pray for them, and then would go through her list of family and friends praying for them. She knew that what was important in life was her faith, her family, and her friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband; Joseph Conrad, Sr., sister; Jean Place, brother; William Patton, brother and sister-in-law; Walter and Shirley Patton, and son-in-law; Anthony "Tony" Rucker.

Darlene is survived by her children; Carol Rucker of Sayre, PA, Joseph and Debbie Conrad, Jr. of Sayre, PA, George and Sue Conrad of Sayre, PA, William and Sandy Conrad of Sayre, PA, Walter and Sue Conrad of East Athens, PA, and Shirley and David Eggers of Milan, PA, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Darlene's request, the family will hold a private service. The Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. is assisting the family.

Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery, Athens, PA at the convenience of the family.
