Obituary of Caroline N. Barber
Caroline Nettie "Carrie" Barber, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Caroline was born on August 21, 1934 in Dushore, PA to the late Nathan and Mary (Horutz) Adams.
Carrie worked as a seamstress for over 20 years at Joyce Manufacturing in Sayre, PA, until her retirement. She enjoyed reading on her back porch, tending to her house plants and flowers, and of course, going to rummage sales. Going out for dinner with a friend or family was one of her favorite things to do, especially if it was fish fry night or liver and onions. Known as "Mother" by countless, her pigs in a blanket and chicken noodle soup was a local favorite among her relatives and friends. She was well-known for her telling of jokes and that she always loved being the center of attention to those around her.
She is now reunited with late husband, William C. Barber, son, Richard A. Barber, 2 sweet babies, sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna (Adams) and Clifford Slater and Catherine (Adams) and Merlin Raub, brother, Nathan "Sonny" Adams Jr., and son-in-law, Warren Bidlack.
Carrie is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Barber) Bidlack of Erie, PA, Debra Barber of Waynesboro, VA, and Lori Barber of Sayre, PA, son and daughter-in-law, William and Jody Barber of Athens, PA, grandchildren, Shelly and Reb Benjamin, Sara and Jeremy Jayne, Melinda and Matthew Hessler, Sherry and Michael Kucnick, Michael and Melissa Bidlack, Crystal Northrup, Bobbi Jo Dawson, Elise Barber, and Courtni Barber, great-grandchildren, Keira, Luke, Shane, Nicholas, Christopher, Nathan, Alex, Drew, Joe, Mikayla, Lindsey, David, and Oliver. She is also survived by her sister Melinda Adams Fitzgerald of LeRaysville, PA, sister and brother-in-law, Rose (Adams) and Don Miller of Wysox, PA, daughter-in-law, Cindy Barber of Waverly, NY, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and much like family her close friend, Linda Loveless, and her furry companions, Bob, Chuck, and Freddy.
Friends and family may call on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 12pm – 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA.
