Obituary of Andrew Joseph Halles, III

Andrew Joseph "AJ" Halles III, 65, of Athens, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, February 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and friends following his brave battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. He was born on July 31, 1953 in Waverly, NY the son of Andrew J., Jr. and Doris Noel Halles. AJ was a 1971 graduate of Athens Area High School. He then attended Clarion Community College for 2 years. He worked as a Laborer in the Manufacturing Industry. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed attending the County and State Fairs and the Strawberry Festival in Owego, NY. He enjoyed watching Football and NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Fan. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, playing the video game; The Undertaker, and scrolling through Facebook. He is predeceased by daughter Kimberly Mazariegos, father Andrew J. Halles, Jr., step-father Myron Tubbs, and father-in-law Eugenio Amante, Sr. AJ is survived by his wife of 13 years JoJie Halles at home, grandchildren Joshua Mazariegos of Columbia, South America, Abigail, Arriana, Ginna, and Marasol Mazariegos of Sayre, PA, mother Doris Tubbs of Sayre, PA, sister and brother-in-law Karen and Tom Franklin of Athens, PA, step-brothers and sisters-in-law Dr. Jeff and Mary Tubbs of Mooresboro, NC, and John and Linda Tubbs of Knoxville, TN, son-in-law Alex Mazariegos, mother-in-law Ruthy Amante of the Philippines, sisters-in-law Helen Enriquez, Fe Vegas, and Gemma Nochefranca all of the Philippines, brother-in-law Dondon Amante of the Philippines, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and several good friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2pm-3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with the Rev. William Wells officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Andrew Joseph's name to Paul D.
