Obituary of Marie Louise Schurer

Marie L. Schurer, 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Sayre, PA, passed away on peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Messiah Lifeway, Mechanicsburg, PA.

She was born on September 9, 1935 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Louise (Goodenow) Tuhro.

Marie was a graduate of Ulster High School. Following high school, she entered the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing obtaining her Registered Nurse's Degree. She then achieved her Bachelors' Degree and Masters' Degree through Elmira College. She worked in the private sector for many years, at the Heritage Nursing Facility, and the Elmira Psychiatric Center, retiring after 15 years.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. Marie was known as the social butterfly as she loved visiting with anyone she encountered. She enjoyed gardening. Marie was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is predeceased by her husband Howard Schurer and brother Walter Tuhro.

Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan and Kevin Quiqley of Mechanicsburg, PA, grandson Dylan Quiqley of Mechanicsburg, PA, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Mary Tuhro of Sault Ste Marie, MI, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call for a time of visitation on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 11am - 12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
