Obituary of Lawrence Chamberlain
Lawrence G. "Larry" Chamberlain, Sr., 76, of Waverly, NY, a long resident of the Valley, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 28, 1935 in Susquehanna, PA the son of the late James and Sarah Carr Chamberlain.
Lawrence was a graduate of Sayre High School. He was a devoted husband and father to his nine children, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. Lawrence worked for Blue Swan in Sayre and then Westinghouse Corporation in Horseheads, NY, retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming by raising chickens, pigs, cows, and turkeys. Gardening was his passion and if you could name a vegetable, he grew it for canning, freezing, and fresh eating.
He is predeceased by his brothers Clarence, James, George, Thomas, Leon, Edward, and Donald, and sisters Elsie, Sarah, Rose, and Sandra.
Lawrence is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Pauline M. Seager Chamberlain at home, children Lawrence G. Chamberlain, Jr. and fiancé Janet Tacchi of Athens, PA, Belinda and John Lougher of Waverly, NY, Mark and Maureen Chamberlain of Waverly, NY, Ricky and Sharon Chamberlain of Sayre, PA, Sara and Fred Nichols of Colonial Heights, VA, Tammy and Dallas Tunnicliff of Waverly, NY, Kimberly and Robert Vrooman of Lockwood, NY, Kevin Chamberlain and long-time love Teresa Elliot of Waverly, NY, and Sheri and James Armstrong of Trumansburg, NY, 30 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Susan Chamberlain and Helen Chamberlain, and many nieces and nephews .
Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 11am to 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 1pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Bill officiating.
