Obituary of Linda M. Carman
Linda M. (Dunn) Carman, 70, of Athens, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at her home with her beloved family by her side.
She was born August 25, 1948 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of the late Clay and Ellen (Potter) Dunn.
Linda was a Bookkeeper for more than 50 years employed with H.E. Weller Public Accounting Service, Melody Hahn and Associates CPA, and most recently Allen, Rogers, & Osgood.
Linda loved spending time with her family. She made it a priority to attend her grandchildren's concerts and sporting events. She was also an avid traveler. She traveled to France, Germany, Costa Rica, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and many other special trips over the years with her family. Linda supported the arts and attended many events at the Clemens Center. She also enjoyed shopping and reading.
She was an active church member serving as a Deacon at the Athens Presbyterian Church, and taught Sunday School at the Chemung Methodist Church. Linda served on the Board of the Tioga Point Cemetery and was the Treasurer at the time of her passing and served on the Tioga Point Museum Board of Directors for several years.
She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Joan and Ray Zenewicz, sister Brenda Wilson, brother David Dunn, brother-in-law Mickey Mosier, and the father of her daughters Richard Carman.
Linda is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Stacey and John Long of Horseheads, NY and Jennifer "Jen" and Donald "Donnie" Bartlow of Sayre, PA, her beloved grandchildren Sydney, Benjamin, and Kathryn Long and Olivia, Stella, and Hayden Bartlow. She is also survived by her siblings Peggy Mosier of Athens, PA, Sherry (Phil) Benditt of Towanda, PA, Donnie (Yvonne) Dunn of Pryor, OK, Barb Westover of Kennisaw, GA, Cindy (Joe) Hoffman of Pryor, OK, Rick (Ann) Dunn of Adair, OK, Dawn (Mitch) Mitchell of Sayre, PA, Donna (Harry) Wandell of Athens, PA, and Pam (Mark) Orshaw of Athens, PA, several aunts and uncles, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 4pm with the Rev. Nelson Kopatz officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service at the funeral home from 5pm-7pm.
Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery Columbarium, Athens, PA at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in Linda's memory to the: Mabel Lamberson Fund, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840 which assists the Nurses and Caregivers in the medical field. The family wishes to thank the numerous nurses and Care Partners at Robert Packer Hospital and Sayre Health Care Center that cared for their loved one during her illness and a special thank you to Diana Tobey for caring for Linda so she could be at home.
