Obituary of Andrew Thomas Smales

Andrew T. “Andy” Smales, 66, of Sayre, Pa, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his son’s home in Pittston.

He was born on April 25, 1952 in Wyalusing, PA, the son of Richard Smales and Estelle Chicoski.

Andy graduated from Wyalusing High School. He was employed at ACME Supermarket as a General Manager. He loved spending time with his family. Andy enjoyed building, working on, and racing stock cars. He also enjoyed fishing, the stock market, and watching TV. He especially enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

He is predeceased by his father Richard Smales and sister Darlene Voda.
 

Andrew is survived by his children Melissa Smales (Robert Berger) of Rome, PA, Anthony Smales (Amy Rogan) of Pittston, PA, Andrea Welch of Tampa, FL, Misty and Josh Gardner of Sayre, PA, and Joseph Park of Twin Falls, ID, grandchildren Jordan Berger and fiancé Daniel Worthington, Jenna Berger, Mia Welch, Jaydon Gardner, Jamison Gardner, Kendra Park, Shannon Vandyke, James Park, Kendrick Park, and Kayzli Park, great-granddaughter Carleigh Worthington. He is also survived by his mother Estelle Chicosky, brother and sister-in-law David and Maureen Smales of Tunkhannock, PA, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 1pm-2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 2pm.
