Obituary of Llewellyn D. Smith
Llewellyn D. "Louie" Smith, 48, of Waverly, NY passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Robert Packer Hospital following his long journey of fighting alcoholism.
He was born on March 10, 1971 in Waverly, NY the son of Harold and Donna (Haxton) Smith.
Louie attended Athens Area School District. Following school, he worked in construction with different companies. Louie loved spending time with his grandchildren. Even though he could not overcome his addiction, his love for his family is what drove him to continue to strive to beat it.
As a kid, he loved working in the Haxton Junkyard with his family and friends. Louie enjoyed fixing cars, fishing, taking long car rides, and jumping into the water from bridges. He also enjoyed watching TV, especially Duck Dynasty and NASCAR, was a huge rock music fan and his favorite song was Thunderstruck by AC/DC.
He is predeceased by his sons Llewellyn Smith and Craig Jerold Douglas Carnrike, father Harold Smith, maternal grandma Florence Haxton, maternal grandfather Llewellyn Haxton, paternal grandma Margie Corey, paternal grandfather Ralph Smith, maternal uncle Thomas Haxton, paternal uncle John Wayman, and niece Desirae Smith.
Llewellyn is survived by his children Victoria Rice, Misty Smith, and Heath Smith, grandchildren Danyell Smith, Camden Davidson, Ruby Rice, Nevaeh Giggee, Paul Rice, and Maddox West. He is also survived by his mother Donna Haxton, sister and brother-in-law Christina and Ronald Pierce, brother and sister-in-law Jeremiah and Sue Smith, sister and brother-in-law Bellva and Randall Chapman, sisters Charity (Willis Edger) Smith and Sadie Smith, maternal uncle Lawrence Haxton, maternal aunt Cindy Haxton, paternal uncle Ralph Smith, Jr., paternal aunt and uncle Kathy (Wayman) and Dean Cramer, aunt Bonnie Jeminson, nieces and nephews Zachary Pierce, Douglas Pierce, Sabrina Pierce, CT Pierce, Jonathan VanNorman, Joshua Smith, and Nicholas Chapman, his favorite cousin Little Larry, and several other cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 4pm at the Christian Life Church, 207 Broad Street, Waverly, NY with the Rev. Doug Abby officiating.
