Obituary of Mark L. Robinson
“To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die.”
Mark L. Robinson, 62, of Sayre, PA beloved husband, dad, and son passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
He was born on August 20, 1956 in Sayre, PA, the son of Gordon and CarolAnn (Jones) Robinson.
Mark was a 1974 graduate of Athens High School. While in high school, he worked for Dr. Smith Vet Service in Athens. After graduation, he was employed with IBM which became Lockheed-Martin as a Program Manager, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service.
Mark was a man whose family always came first. His love for his family could never be measured but his actions and pride for them showed it all. His life revolved around his girls as they were growing up. Mark always attended all their events and sporting activities. When the girls were in basketball, he managed the books for the team. He was known as the guy who always had a lollipop in his mouth so as not to scream at every move made on the court (he left that up to his wife and mother to be vocal). Even after his daughters graduated, he remained on helping with the books and supporting the team. He recently was presented with a medal from the 2019 basketball team who placed 2nd in Districts. Mark took great pride in his daughters’ accomplishments and career choices following graduation.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, doing construction projects, and tending to his yard and home. Mark was the kind of guy who if he didn’t know how to do it, he was determined to figure it out. He could read a how-to-do-it book and immediately make the project happen. His collection of tractors and his boy-toys was one admired by many. Mark also enjoyed working out and going to the gym with his friends. Mark loved his faithful dog Sammy and having him next to him while outdoors. He was a member of the ELKS and served all chairs. He was instrumental in the fund raising for their charitable donations.
He is predeceased by his father Gordon E. Robinson, nephews Sean Robinson and Curtis Yingling and mother-in-law Irma Grandin.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Barbara at home, daughters Hannah Robinson, serving with the US Army as a Medical Student in Washington, DC and Mollie Robinson of Sayre, PA, mother CarolAnn Jones of Sayre, PA, siblings and their spouses Neil and Kelley Robinson of Sayre, PA, Tim and Stephanie Robinson of Sayre, PA, Todd Robinson of Sayre, PA, Heather and George Dakos of Athens, PA, Scott and Lori Robinson of Athens, PA, Jennifer and Sharon Robinson of Ithaca, NY, his father-in-law whom he was very close with William “Papa” Grandin of Roulette, PA, sisters-in-law and their spouses Beverly and Steven McDowell of Roulette, PA and Brenda and Brian Milliron of Roulette, PA, and brother-in-law Rick Fillhart of Pax River, MD.
