I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure that your family had a lot of fun times with him. He helped me chaperone a class trip to Canada in 1976, and we had a good time. He must have really missed his wife. He was always so proud of her baking and cooking. The first time that I ever heard of monkey bread was when LaRue was bragging about his wife making it. He brought her homemade monkey bread to the faculty room several times and we all enjoyed the treat. He was an interesting character... funny, kind, and compassionate. Even though he was sometimes unorganized, he usually managed to complete his goals. Several weeks before he passed, a former student asked me if I knew how he was doing. This student told me that Mr Jenney helped him graduate from high school enabling him to join the service which changed his life in a good way.

Like so many I was a student of his, and enjoyed his stories, and distracting him from the actual subject he was teaching by asking him to tell his stories. I thank him for his service to our country and our community. God Bless you all as you morn his loss.

I first met Homer LaRue Jenny in September 1966 when I began my school years in 7th grade at Northeast Bradford High School, located between Rome and Le Raysville PA. He was my home room teacher then and in later years as well. I only recall taking World Cultures from Mr. Jenny over my six years at Northeast.
During either 7th or 8th grade Mr. Jenny taught the extracurricular Hunter’s Safety Class for me and others. I believe it was NRA based and he was an official NRA Instructor.
Starting in 11th grade, but maybe 9th or 10th grade, I started doing photography with Mr. Jenny in the Photography Club and support of the Yearbook production. I really enjoyed working with Mr. Jenny learning film, lighting, cameras, dark room processing, and taking photos. He was great as a mentor to me. In this role he treated me more as a peer than a teacher.
In the years after graduation I think I only saw him briefly a couple of times. Moving to Colorado in 1998 separated me from home. Over the next 14 or so years I would return and visit my parents, friends and sometimes former teachers. But for some reason I never visited Mr. Jenny those later years. I stopped returning in 2012 when my wife had a stroke and couldn’t travel. Then in October 2017 my wife’s sisters spelled me and I returned to Bradford County for a week. In preparation I was able to contact Mr. Jenny and arranged a time to meet with him. On October 10th I met him at his home in Milan. We sat in his living room and spoke for more than 3 hours (while an appliance person was working on his stove)! It was a great experience. This was the first time I really talked to him outside the teacher-student relationship. I asked him about his military time in Korea and how he got started teaching. We talked about my Northeast years, the world today and of course photography. I thanked him for his service and his teaching and influence in making me successful. I took a photo of him before I left. Unfortunately I didn’t get one with both of us which I now regret. I e.mailed him the photo when I returned home but I never got a response. I hope he got it.
I was saddened when I heard of his passing. He was a great teacher for me and a great American. I have never and will never forget Mr. Jenny. I send my condolences to his family.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Like so many; I was (not so great) a student in Mr. Jenney's class. I loved his stories far more than the subject matter at hand.... My younger brother, J.Carter, built a love for photography under Mr. Jenney's guidance. He has certainly touched our lives and we will always remember.... please know we are thinking of you and embracing you in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of Mr. Jenney. Your loss is immeasurable, but so is the legacy and the love he has left behind. I am so pleased to have been able to chat with him recently and reminisce about the past at NEB. There is joy in Heaven, may you feel peace here on earth until you meet him there.

Thank you for your service and God bless you for putting up with me in class, Mr. Jenney...Lord knows geography was not my favorite subject but I enjoyed your personal stories. I especially enjoyed how you would tell me how you used to toss my parents out of class when you had them and I better watch it or I'd be next :-) (I managed to stay in the room.) May you rest in well-deserved peace, sir.
