Obituary of Larry G. Lantz

Larry "Buck" Lantz, 51, of Sayre, PA passed away unexpectedly, following an illness, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

He was born September 17, 1967 in Long Beach, CA, the son of the late Larry E and Diana (Ackley) Lantz.

Buck graduated from Athens High School in 1986 and worked in the construction industry all his life, working much of it with his father.  He took great pride in his craftmanship.  He was a bit of a nomad… he loved gardening, had quite the green thumb, and loved to be outdoors – camping, bon fires, and going on walkabout…  He lived by the motto “No shirt, no shoes, no problem!”  In fact, barefoot was his preference!

Buck was a free spirit and completely loved those around him, always without judgement.  He loved having a good time and encouraged everyone around him to “relax and calm down!” It was common practice for him to go picking wildflowers with a knack for presenting them to someone just when they needed it most.  He had many, many friends and considered their children ‘Buck’s kids’ and loved being ‘Uncle Buck’ to them all.

He is predeceased by his parents, Larry Lantz and Diana Ackley Lantz.

Buck is survived by his siblings Katrina and Joe Thompson of Jamestown, NC, Luke and Beth Lantz of High Point, NC, Arianne Lantz of Athens, PA and his adoring niece and nephews; Nick Thompson of Jamestown NC and Lily and Jason Lantz of High Point, NC.  In addition, he had countless friends and family members who were like brothers and sisters to him.  Tracey Ludwig and Billy Lantz remained devoted cousins/friends who helped look after and care for Buck during these last several weeks.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the J.E. Wheelock Hose Company, 217 Frank Street, Sayre (Milltown).   Afterwards, all are welcome to continue to gather and share stories and “Buck-isms.”
