Richard (Rich) N. Bobb, Jr. 69, of Sayre, PA, passed away unexpectedly on May 24th at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. Rich was born in Lewistown, PA to (Richard) Neil and (Catherine) Audrey Bobb on May 26, 1949. In 1967, he graduated from Chief Logan High School, Lewistown, PA and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Lock Haven University in 1971. He also did graduate work at The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Bobb taught English in the Athens Area School District for 32 years. He also coached basketball and baseball during his time as an educator and served as athletic director for several years until his retirement in June 2005. Rich received the "Excellence in Education" awarded from the Athens Area School Board and also piloted the Character Education program in the District. Rich was a 48-year member of the Lewistown BPOE #0663, Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203, the American Legion #779, Centre Hall, a volunteer member of the Yeagertown Fire Company and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing at his cottage in Black Lake, N.Y. and hunting and fishing at the "camp" in Spring Mills, PA. He was a sports enthusiast all his life; playing and attending high school sports and a forty-year attendee of Penn State football games. Rich is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Eva (Muffley), of Sayre, PA. He's also survived by his sons, Lucas Bobb, Cortland, NY and Shawn Hutchison, Ft. Collins, CO.; his mother Audrey Bobb, Yeagertown, PA; grandchildren: Wyatt and Sophia Bobb of Ogdensburg, NY. and several cousins, friends and many treasured former colleagues. He is preceded in death by his father, R. Neil Bobb. Funeral Services will be held at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dennis Snider officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
