Obituary of Matthew D. Noldy
Matthew D. “Matt” Noldy, 44, of Blossburg, PA formerly of South Waverly, PA passed away with his family and close friends by his side at Broad Acres Nursing Facility, Wellsboro, PA on Saturday, June 1, 2019.
He was born on October 13, 1974 in Sayre, PA, the son of Rodney “Rod” and Linda (Darling) Noldy.
Matt was a 1993 graduate of Sayre High School. While in school, he was an accomplished athlete in wrestling, football, and track. Following graduation, he attended Mansfield University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Public Relations/Marketing & Speech.
His passion was in music, and he was a talented acoustic guitar player, drummer, and singer. With his wife, Jude, they formed the “Acoustic Pawn Shop” playing at many venues and events. They were well-known in both Bradford and Tioga Counties.
He was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Matt was a devoted Dallas Cowboy and Florida Seminole fan. Because of his daughter, Lindsay’s, participation in cheerleading, Matt was very active in the Southern Tioga Youth Football League. He was their play by play announcer for several years keeping the fans interacting and excited about the games. Matt loved all animals but especially his dogs and cats.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Raymond and Mildred Darling, paternal grandparents Daniel and Beulah Noldy, maternal aunt Marianna Lane, maternal uncle Douglas Darling, and cousin Melissa (Tanner) Brown and her family.
Matt is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years Judith “Jude” (Hibbs) Noldy at home, daughter Lindsay Mae at home, step-son August “Gus” at home, parents Rod and Linda (Darling) Noldy of Sayre, PA, brother and sister-in-law Mark and Carol Noldy of Sayre, PA, maternal aunts and uncles Karel (Darling) and Phil Peterman of Philadelphia, PA and Ray and Carole Darling of Athens, PA, paternal aunts and uncles Danice (Noldy) and Dale Tanner of Norman, OK, Gail (Noldy) and Jack Riley of Sayre, PA, and Carol Noldy Lewis of Horseheads, NY, nieces Abigail, Alexandra, Andrea, and Audrey, special cousin Karen Lewis Deines of Horseheads, NY, and several other cousins. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lindsay and George Hibbs of Hawley, PA, brother-in-law Jason Hibbs of Hawley, PA, and many close friends. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 2pm-6pm at Tanner's Bar and Grill, 875 PA-199, Athens, PA.
