Obituary of Marion Elizabeth Wild

Marion Elizabeth (Porter) Wild, 92, of Sayre, PA passed away peacefully at her home with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was born on April 2, 1927 in Lockwood, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Ellen Elizabeth (Peppard) Porter. Marion was a kind, generous, and caring woman. She was devoted to her family. Marion always remembered all their birthdays and they looked forward to the cards they received from her. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed. She loved her gardens and tending to them. Marion belonged to the Elk Valley Garden Club in Girard, PA. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and genealogy. Marion also enjoyed cooking, and baking, and always liked trying out new recipes on her family. Marion was a member of the Spencer Grange for years and was very involved in teaching Junior Grange members. Marion was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Robert C. Wild (Jan. 2019), brothers and sisters-in-law Ellsworth and Mildred Porter and George and Ann Porter, sister and brother-in-law Lois and Leo Balander, brothers-in-law Paul Stafford and John Hetherton, and her two nephews William and Gary Stafford. Marion is survived by her loving family, sister Winifred Hetherton of Elmira, NY, nieces and their husbands, Jacqueline and Stan Glowacki of Atlanta, GA, Patricia and Dale Freed of Hanover, PA, Mary Kay and John Palumbo of Waverly, NY, Monica and Keith McFall of Waverly, NY, nieces Jennifer Barton of Elmira, NY, Susan Toukatly of New Hartford, NY, Sharon Porter of Cicero, NY, and Marie Balander of Spencer, NY, nephew and his wife Dale and Sibyl Porter of OK, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her husband, Robert's family, niece and her husband Barbara and Donald Beach of Newfield, NY, niece Elizabeth Klinger of Syracuse, NY, nephews and their wives, John and Donna Wild of Spencer, NY, Robert and Virginia Robinson of Tully, NY, and Conrad and Marilyn Ross of Binghamton, NY, cousin and his wife, David and Judi Rieger of Binghamton, NY, niece Jane Ross of Binghamton, NY, special friends and caregivers Douglas (Rosemary) Plank of Waverly, NY, Jennine Belcher of Sayre, PA and Debra Swantner of Spencer, NY. Friends and family may call on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 10am-11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11am with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA where Marion will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Robert C. Wild.
