Maude Margarite "Peg" Murray, 99, of Athens, PA passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Sayre Personal Care Home, where she resided since 2016. She was born on February 18, 1920 in Spangler, WV, the daughter of the late John C. and Leona G. (Conrad) Baker. Peg was a 1938 graduate of Sayre High School. Following graduation, Peg met the love of her life, James A. Murray. On May 31, 1941, they married and for 50 years lived on Desmond Street in Athens prior to his passing. Peg was a stay-at-home mom raising her children and taking care of her home. She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, who loved spending time with her family. After moving into the personal care home, Peg enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in the activities. She formed many friendships with both the staff and residents. Peg will be missed by not just her family but by all those who knew and loved her. Peg is predeceased by her beloved husband James A. Murray, her 2 brothers Samuel and Paul Baker, and 3 sisters Ruth Brougham, Leona Stroup, and Virginia Shaver-Bidwell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sharon L. and Lawrence Havens of Rochester, NY, sons and daughters-in-law James S. and Sherrin Murray of The Villages, FL, and Jon P. and Wendy Murray of South Waverly, PA, grandchildren Melissa and Troy Shouse of Honey Falls, NY, Jill and Charles Hetterich of Pittsford, NY, James Murray of FL, Joseph and Rachel Murray of Philadelphia, PA, Kimberly Murray of Athens, PA who was always there whenever her grandma needed her and helped to tend to her needs, Kelly Murray of Rochester, NY, and Kate Murray and Justin Bryant of Myrtle Beach, SC, great-grandchildren Caleb, Alexandra, Sarah, Charlie, Joseph, Jude, and McKenzie and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2pm at the Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA. Burial will follow in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Sayre Personal Care Home for the wonderful care given to their loved one during her time at the facility.
