So sorry I wasn’t available to come to Joes funeral, I was out of tiown. It took my breath away when I read the paper I have known Joe for many years, seeing him every month for his haircut. We shared his joys and his sadness. But always a positive attitude . Joe loved his family and always so proud of all of them. I will miss him personally and professionally . So sorry for your loss .

Bruce and I (Kay Meier) were devastated when we heard the news of Joe's passing. We knew he was not out as much at Errol this past snowbird season, but we didn't see this coming. I know none of us get to live forever, but if I could wish it on any one person, it would have been Joe. Never have I heard him say a bad word about anything or anyone. Like all of us, he had times when people disappointed him, but he found a way to talk about it without animosity or prejudice. What a gift to us all.
A true gentleman
A pleasure to spend time with
A wonderful teller of true life experiences
A snappy dresser
A positive role model
A blessing to have known
I can only hope I am perceived with half the integrity, devotion and respect as Joe. He will be sorely missed by all who are fortunate enough to have known him. Errol will not be the same without him.
Rest in peace Dear Friend.

We will miss our wonderful friend Joe who was the epitome of a true gentleman. He appreciated every gesture, especially muffins delivered to his Errol unit while he golfed with Roland. Our 16 years at Errol was enhanced by his smile and his true friendship.
Our sincere condolences to all the family and you are in our thoughts and prayers. With loving hugs,

Where do I start...from being a good friend of my father and mother, which extended to me for 50 years. His great kids and lifelong friends of Rita and I. How many laughs I had with Mark and Joe Jr.! Great memories. Continued great memories with the girls at SHCC and throughout today. He and Theresa raised a great family and his legacy lives on strong and ever lasting from generation to generation. Legend.

Chris and I had the good fortune to have Joe as our condo resident at Errol by the Sea for many winter seasons. His bright smile, impeccable fashion sense, engaging personality set him apart.....we will miss his presence at the poolside each evening welcoming the group for friendship and cheer. His walks, rosaries, and attendance at the11:00 mass qt Star of the sea meant so much to him!
To Joe's family we offer our prayers and thoughts this evening and tomorrow as you say a fond farewell to a great Dad, Granddad.
I am rooting for Penn State tomorrow and raising a glass of Crown Royal to you Joe.........thanks for the memories!!!!

Dear Joe and the entire Swigonski Family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers! You were truly blessed to have your Dad for 87 years. He will be missed by all.
I know your pain, I lost my Dad in 1999 and would have traded almost anything to have had more time with him. We sold our house in Sayre a few years ago. Mom (Dorothy, age 88) lives independently in her own apartment in a retirement village in Drums, Pa. She asked me to express her condolences to your family also. I'm retired and live in Washington, DC, where I have been for the past 24 years.
Again, your Dad and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Fran Stoffa

The 4o'clock club at Errol will not be the same without Joe's friendly face. He was always the gentleman that made sure I had a chair at the poolside cocktails.
As long as I was at Errol Joe was there. I will miss him. My sympathy to his family.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I just got a hug from him and had a lovely conversation with him at the Clinic a few weeks ago. He was most definitely an advocate and mentor for me in my years teaching at Tioga Central. My condolences to his children and family.

I met Joe about 27 years ago. His daughter, Suzi, married my son. Over the years, I treasured any opportunity to hang out with Joe. He was a kind, family loving guy with a wonderful sense of humor and a smile which lit the room. May he rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss! I have such fond memories of Mr. Swigonski. He was my principal through middle school. I used to bake for him, on an almost weekly basis. His favorite treat was chocolate microwave fudge (I continued to send him treats, even after entering high school!). What a wonderful mentor!
