As a teenager, I knew Mr. Mint as the father of my friend, Jodi. I can remember going to Jodi’s house after school and I always knew Mr. and Mrs. Mint would great us with kindness. The entire Mint family was a loving family and it was fun spending time with them. There was joy and laughter in that household.
As a young adult, l obtained employment in the Washington DC area, and needed a reliable car so I paid Mr. Mint a visit at Mint Chevrolet. He was very helpful and showed me a red Chevy Vega with a stick shift. Although I knew nothing about stick shifts, he trained me on the spot, and that day I drove my first new car off the lot. The following day I drove it all the way from Pennsylvania to Virginia with just a few hiccups :-) . And the stunning thing is, I didn’t have to make a down payment. At the time I didn’t know how much of a favor he just granted me, until I told my father of the new car I just bought. This is a memory that I cherish to this day. Mr. Mint had a big heart, and reading the stories here, I see he was very generous to everyone.
To the Mint family, I am so sorry for your loss.
Kindest regards,
Kelly (Jones) Holden

I never got to meet in person but know Jodi very well. The Love & Admiration in her voice when she talks of her Father has always made me feel as if I knew this wonderful person.
Love You Jodi.

Ray and family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. His obituary was very interesting.
We frequently saw him in church until very recently. It was amazing to notice how little he changed since you and Kevin were in school together. Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Rene and Marlin Grazul

Mr. Mint's life was nothing short of inspirational. He and Mrs. Mint were always kind and warmhearted. Anyone lucky enough to be friends with his family knows that that they raised their children to be just as caring. My deepest condolences to Ray, Joe, Janet and Jodi. What a wonderful man with a ready smile. In the last year of my dad’s life, Joe took him to lunch every Wednesday. It was the highlight of his week. I also loved seeing him ride his horses up on the hill. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of Joe’s family.

My sympathies to Joe’s family. Joe gave me my first job in sales back in 1986 and it has and still continues to be a great career choice for 34 years. Some of my memories of Joe was he always went to lunch & dinner same time everyday. Always come out to showroom at end of day to check stock market on tv, he would say well was good or not so good! Always treated people well and was a good guy!

Joe was a giant to me. As a young member of the Sayre Rotary Club, when I bought the radio stations in 1986, Joe (who was always the first person you saw at a club meeting at the Keystone because he sold the 50/50 tickets) said to me "If you ever need ANYTHING, you just let me know." I'm not sure what that meant...but I cannot express how much confidence it gave me when I took that whopping mortgage to my pillow each night. And the station benefited from Joe's advertising support for many, many years. He was a wonderful friend and such a devoted husband and father. I loved Joe Mint. Michele and I send our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Be strong and God bless.

I was one of those many, that had the fortune to be part of Joe’s life; he was “My American father”, all this started back in 1982 (I lost my father some years before), I was an fortunate Exchange Student from Colombia that in addition to two other fantastic families (Ramsdell's and Johnston's), end up in Joe’s home and as mentioned in the obituary “He was a man of integrity who was an inspiration to all who knew him”, so since then I’m in love with Joe and Dolly and the family. Since I arrived in Sayre that year he was supporting me and every time, there was a Rotary Lunch, he come to me with a big smile and with a Rotary lunch lottery ticket, we when to car actions, to car races, to the Januzzi's Restaurant, to NJ, to Hazleton, the church was a mandatory weekend activity, we visit many places........; We keep in contact all this years, I managed to visit Joe and Dolly and his family in different moments over the years in PA and FL. I had the fortune and opportunity to have Joe with me and my family in Panama (2002) and Mexico (2011); that was very important for my family and I.
From the distance our prayers and love to Joe, Dolly, Janet, Jody, Ray and Joe; and all the family.
Love you forever. Santiago, Yony, Karina and Diego
