A. Louise Manning, 85, formerly of Sayre, PA and Ithaca, NY, passed away on February 21, 2012 at Bradford County Manor, Burlington, PA. She was born on February 7, 1927 in Sayre, PA to the late Edward and Merna Brown Wertz. Louise was a graduate of Sayre High School and a 1948 graduate of Robert Packer School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Pediatric Nurse with the Robert Packer Hospital and as a Pharmacy Courier until her retirement. She was known for always treating each of her patients as if they were her own children. Louise was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sayre, PA. She was known for collecting many items including music boxes but was best known for her collection of books and tapes library which she freely loaned to family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband LeRoy Manning, and brother John Wertz. Louise is survived by her daughter Susan (Richard) Beach of East Smithfield, PA, granddaughters Emilia Manning of East Smithfield, PA and Brandy Beach of Owego, NY, special brother and sister-in-law Ed and Mary Wertz of Wellsboro, PA, sister Margaret Chandler of Barton, NY, sister-in-law Jean Wertz of Warren, PA, special cousin Elizabeth Kochin of Waverly, NY and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 12pm to 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at 1pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Ensign officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
