Obituary of Richard O'Connor
Richard "Dick" E. O’Connor, 71, of Athens, PA passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA following an extended illness.
He was born on January 7, 1941 in Curwensville, PA the son of the late Max and Anne Richards O’Connor.
Dick served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1961. He owned and operated his own Body Shop for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR. Dick especially enjoyed spending time at Banana Curve Diner with his friends.
He is predeceased by his infant brother Billy Ed O’Connor and special friends Moe Baker, Owen Fassett, and Pat Corl.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years Dorothy at home, children Dawn and Dave Correll of Chemung, NY and Michael and Sherrie O’Connor of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Jessica and Mick O’Connor of Sayre, PA, and Rachel and Madison Correll of Chemung, NY, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Dale Ogden of Goshen, PA, aunt Bette Hoover, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, close friends Nancy Fassett, Bob and Judy Anderson, Erica and Dick Kresge, Gordon Corl, and Barb and Joe Novojosky, and his friends from Banana Curve Diner.
Friends and family may call on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 11am – 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 1pm with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating from the Waverly United Methodist Church.
