Obituary of Donald Donahue

Donald "Don" J. Donahue, 93, of Athens, PA passed away on Monday, May 31, 2012 at Conesus Lake Nursing Home with his family by his side following a brief illness. He was born on July 27, 1918 in Waverly, NY the son of the late Thomas and Laura Daly Donahue. Don was a Lifetime Member of St. Joseph’s Church, Athens. He was employed with the L.V.R.R. for 37 years, retiring in 1979. Don was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He adored his family, and his life centered around them and their activities. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years Loris, grandson Sean Donahue, sister Genevieve Waite, and brother Joseph Donahue. Donald is survived by his son Robert Donahue of Fairport, NY, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Peter Urtz of Brooksville, FL, grandchildren Shannon Donahue, Matthew McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy, Molly MacLean, Eric Chaykosky, Todd Chaykosky, Debbie Urtz-Gleason, Tammy Feck, and Becky Wise, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 7pm - 9pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 9:30am at St. James Catholic Church, 503 Clark Street, Waverly, NY with Rev. Vincent Langan officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Donald’s memory to: Guthrie Hospice, R.R.#1, Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848, Att: Clinical Coordinator.
