Obituary of Kenneth Hoyt
Kenneth R. "Dick" Hoyt, 71, of Litchfield, Pa, formerly of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at home following an extended illness.
He was born on December 30, 1940 in French Azylum, PA the son of the late Kenneth W. and Nellie Walter Hoyt.
Dick was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1959, after which he joined the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam Conflict, his last duty station being aboard the USS Ethan Allen (SSBN608). Dick was a member of the Athens Fort Sullivan Post 246 American Legion, and a Life Member of the Skiff Bower Post #1536 V.F.W. Kenneth enjoyed working and restoring antique cars, fishing, hunting, and all outdoor activities.
He is predeceased by his sisters Sharon R. Hoyt and Sandra J. Hoyt, and brother Robert L. Hoyt.
Kenneth is survived by his ex-wife Bea Carpenter Hoyt of Palmyra, PA, children Carmen (Cheryl) Hoyt of Hershey, PA, Chris (Susan) Hoyt of Elizabethtown, PA, and Curtis (Julie) Hoyt of South Mill, NC, grandchildren Chrystal Hoyt, Ashley Hoyt, Kyle Hoyt, Derek (Amanda) Hoyt, Bradley Hoyt, and Rachel Hoyt, siblings and their spouses, Joanna (Howard) Kinney of Waverly, NY, Charlotte (Earl) Good of Ephrata, PA, Claude (Mary) Hoyt of South Waverly, PA Gerald Hoyt of South Waverly, PA, and Judy (Charles) Brown of Apalachin, NY, companion Marsha Shoemaker, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and several special friends.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 1pm with the Rev. Jeffrey Wilkinson of Guthrie Hospice officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Valley Color Guard and the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard.
