Obituary of Geraldine Pierson
Geraldine M. Pierson, 86, formerly of Athens, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at ElderWood Healthcare Facility following an extended illness.
She was born on February 16, 1926 in Friendsville, PA the daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn Gillan Fitzgerald.
Geraldine was a loving mother and grandmother. She was well-known for her sense of humor and love of animals. She enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, playing cards, solving crossword puzzles, and socializing on her front porch at Willow Street with friends and neighbors. Geraldine was a Unit Clerk in the O.R. at Robert Packer Hospital, retiring in 1995 after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her son Richard, grandson Colin Dyke, brothers and sisters-in-law Francis and Edith Fitzgerald, Edward and Ann Fitzgerald, John and Winifred Fitzgerald, and William Fitzgerald.
Geraldine is survived by her children Raymond and Diane Pierson of Enola, PA, Elaine Pierson and Michael McGlinchey of Sayre, PA, Kathryn Pierson of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Mary and Charles Irvin of Elmira, NY, grandchildren Matthew Dyke, Charles Irvin, and Brian Irvin.
Friends and Family may call on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 9am to 11am at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Church at 11:30am with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.
Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
