Michele L. Shaffer, 48, of Waverly, NY, formerly of Binghamton, NY passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on November 9, 1963 the daughter of the late Bernard and Shirley Furman Shaffer. Michele is survived by her daughters Andrea of Binghamton, NY and Kim of Waverly, NY, siblings and in-laws Barbara (Patrick) Orshaw of Bradenton, FL, Susan Shaffer of Bradenton Beach, FL, Nancy (Richard) Vanderpool of Waverly, NY, Catherine (Guerino) Alexander of Waverly, NY, and Bernard (Deborah) Shaffer of Sayre, PA, great aunt and uncle Edward and Margaret Jones of Sayre, PA, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friend Nick Franks of Binghamton, NY. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 9am at the Glenwood Cemetery, Moore Street, Waverly, NY with the Rev. Bruce Vanderpool officiating from Shepards Creek Chapel. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly, NY.
