Obituary of Charleen Allen
Charleen Lois Post Allen of Athens, PA died on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
Born, July 28, 1925, she was the only child of the late William D. and Sybil Wells Post.
Charleen often spoke of many fond memories of growing up in Evergreen, PA. Her family later moved to Brewster, NY where she graduated from High School in 1942.
On November 4, 1944, Charleen married her former classmate Edward L. Allen at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Brewster, NY.
Charleen was a loving, caring Mother and Grandmother. She was a longtime member of the Athens United Methodist Church where she enjoyed attending Bible Study classes with her many close friends. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Robert Packer Hospital for many years.
Charleen was preceded in death by her husband Edward of 54 years in 1999.
Charleen is survived by her children: Daughter and Son-in-law Laura and Gary Carlin of Sayre, PA, Son and Daughter-in-law William and Milly Allen of Ridgebury, PA, and Daughter and Son-in-law Barbara and Kevin Lessig of Sinking Spring, PA. Also surviving are a brother-in-law and his wife John and Betty Allen of FL and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 1pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the Funeral Home with her Grandson Stephen Carlin officiating.
Burial will be in the New Era Cemetery, New Albany, PA.
